The Ohio Council for the Social Studies
Annual Conference

Mark your calendars now for the 2011 Annual Conference!

2011 NCSS Great Lakes Regional Conference

OCSS is pleased to announce it will host the 2011 NCSS Great Lakes Regional Conference which will serve as the council's annual conference as well. Please reserve the dates of September 26-27, 2011 to attend the conference at the Quest Business Center on the northern outerbelt of Columbus, Ohio.

The 2011 conference offers some changes that we believe will enhance your conference experience.

The conference date has been moved from spring to a September date, providing you the opportunity to hear the latest professional news and discover classroom ideas that you apply throughout the year!

For Ohio teachers, the fall date will make you among the first in state to examine the final version of the content standards and model curriculum.

Reflecting changing demographics and member needs, the conference has been moved to a Monday-Tuesday schedule.

The Quest Business Center at the Polaris exit in Columbus offers a modern facility, convenient location, and easy access to the Columbus airport and the many museums, sporting events and cultural sites Columbus has to offer. You will also find the site offers:
  • a modern conference center with free WiFi and the latest media in each presentation room
  • larger presentation rooms and exhibit area than we typically have available at state conferences
  • several hotels under $100/night and a variety of restaurants within walking distance
  • proximity to Polaris Mall, a premier shopping and entertainment venue

  • Visit the Quest site ( http://www.quest-centers.com/facility/tour.cfm ), see a map of attractions inthe immediate area (http://www.quest-centers.com/areainfo/index.cfm), see what Columbus has to offer ( http://www.experiencecolumbus.com), and check out Polaris Mall (http://www.polarisfashionplace.com/index.cfm) for more information.

Check back here in late summer for additional conference details and session proposal forms.
